StaVin Oak Chips

French and American oak fermentation chips

Savour Oak Fermentation chips can enhance structure during fermentation.
  • Designed for fast-to-market wines
  • Suggested contact time from 1 week to 3 months. Wine should be frequently tasted and evaluated to determine the exact contact time
  • Oak chips are packaged in food grade nylon mesh bags
  • Available in French (Quercus petraea, Q. robur) and American Oak (Quercus alba)
  • Available in Savour and Savour DM
  • Size: 15 lb bag

Recommended Dosage:  2-8 lb/ton; 22 lbs/1000 gal; 2.6g/L
Usage:  For whites and roses, chips must be used with infusion bags. For reds, we also recommend using infusion bags. Alternatively, you may add into the tank while filling. It is important that the oak does not float on top of the wine to maximize extraction and minimize the potential for microbial growth.
Storage: Dated expiration. Store in a cool dry, odor free environment below 25°C (77°F) away from ignition sources. Unopened, the shelf life is 5 years. Once opened use immediately.
